Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Therapy is the skillful art of bodywork utilizing various size, form and weights of warmed, smooth, flattish stones. The pre-warmed stones are placed on key points of the body to stimulate the circulatory system. The stones are also used to warm, soften and relax tight, aching muscles; while promoting an extraordinary feeling of relaxation and contentment. Often, rocks made of smooth volcanic Basalt are used because of their high iron content and ability to retain heat.

While the hot stones soften the body muscles and help to release toxins, your trained therapist will usually apply Swedish Style relaxation massage to other areas of your body. Select warmed, smooth stones are often used with essential oils as a massage tool by your therapist as well.

Your therapist will choose the number, size, weight and quantity of warmed stones that will be used in your treatment. Sometimes the healing property of heat is also utilized with small heated stones between your toes other areas of your body that can benefit. In certain cases, your therapist may alternately use cold stones with the hot ones, to help in healing muscular injury and inflammation.

A number of specific therapeutic benefits are attributed to the skilful application and usage of hot stones. Health conditions such as deep muscular aches and pains, stress, circulatory problems, arthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep problems and others, can benefit wondrously from skillfully applied Hot Stone Therapy.

The combination of Relaxation Massage and Hot Stone Therapy is definitely an experience that keeps clients coming back for more. We invite you to experience it for yourself by visiting our appointment book to book a session with us. We look forward to seeing you soon!

If you have never experienced this unique indulgence, you owe yourself this exquisite moment.

Relaxation Massage

In the classical treatment this gentle technique of long strokes, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and kneading movements are used to release muscle tensions, remove the pain and improve blood circulation. Rubbing between bones and strokes generally are performed in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

Swedish massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. It also just simply feels good.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic wastes. It also has specific clinical uses in a medical or remedial therapy. The strokes and manipulations of Swedish massage are each conceived as having a specific therapeutic benefit: Swedish massage techniques include:

  • Petrissage: Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingertips.

  • Effleurage: Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips.

  • Friction: Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingertips.

  • Vibration: Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body.

  • Percussion: Brisk hacking or tapping.

  • Passive and Active Movements: Bending and stretching.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a general term covering a range of strategies that deal with assisted muscle release at a deeper level. Other systems that include deep tissue massage are Rolfing, Soma bodywork and Sports Massage.

Neuromuscular massage techniques are employed to detect muscle tissues that have become distressed. Effective manipulation of stiff or painful musculature using specific hand positions, strokes and specifically developed techniques, bring about relief from muscle tensions and increase flexibility. Treatment for low back and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, sciatica, headaches, knees and neck are amongst the common complaints that Deep Tissue specialists treat.

Micro scarring is caused by injuries and often surgery. This ailment is commonly benefited from this type of therapy. Often the treatment and pressure begins gently and can gradually escalate to points of temporary discomfort. Treatment ranges from generally therapeutic to corrective in nature. Deep tissue massage can cause an increase in muscle strength and length appreciably and rapidly.

Deep Tissue Massage therapy usually involves warming the skin and superficial soft tissue of your body prior to the therapist using greater pressure to access the deeper connected tissue underneath.

Prenatal Massage

The expanding popularity of prenatal massage is a result of the modern tendency to increase levels of well-being, education and opportunity. Your growing and changing shape is one of nature's most incredible occurrences. Knowledgeable pregnancy massage therapists can help you gain the most from this specialized treatment.

Importantly, the prenatal period can be a very stressful physical and emotional time for a mother-to-be. Proper management of stress itself is of great consequence. Clearly documented evidence exists to suggest that very high levels of stress may increase the probability of pre-term labor and lower birth weight of the newborn.

Prenatal massage by a professional offers numerous benefits including but not limited to:

  • Creates a positive environment of wonderful relaxation and soothing stress relief.

  • Promotes proper postural maintenance to ease physical stress.

  • Provides relief from musculoskeletal strain, aches and pains, muscle spasms and cramps.

  • Increases circulation of the blood & lymph.

  • Reduces edema and blood pressure through promoting better blood circulation.

  • Increases blood and lymph circulation for increased toxins elimination and immune system functioning.

  • Affords welcome release from chronic tension in the neck, shoulders, lower back, abdomen and thighs.

  • Eases childbirth by preparing the muscles used in childbirth.

  • Actively aids in reducing fluid retention, swelling in hands and feet, headaches and sinus problems as well as digestive irregularities.

  • Helps you to sleep better while reducing fatigue and discomfort caused by physical and emotional stresses. Energy levels and mental alertness increase.

Cranial Sacral

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on evaluating and supporting the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This system plays an important role in the health and function of the central nervous system, which influences nearly every process in the body.

During a CST session, the practitioner uses a very light touch, typically no greater than about five grams of pressure, to assess subtle rhythms and areas of restriction within the body.

These restrictions may develop over time due to stress, injury, illness, or physical strain. Through precise, delicate techniques, the practitioner works to release tension patterns in the tissues that can interfere with the natural movement of the craniosacral system.

By helping restore balance within this system, CST aims to support the body’s inherent ability to regulate and heal itself. Many people seek Craniosacral Therapy to address concerns such as headaches, jaw tension, neck and back discomfort, stress-related symptoms, and overall nervous system overload.

Others incorporate it into their wellness routine as a preventative approach, using it to encourage relaxation, improve resilience to stress, and maintain optimal nervous system function.

CST is non-invasive and deeply calming, making it suitable for individuals of all ages. Rather than forcing change, it works in cooperation with the body, creating space for improved comfort, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Myofascial Cupping

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on evaluating and supporting the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This system plays an important role in the health and function of the central nervous system, which influences nearly every process in the body, including movement, stress response, sleep, and immune function.

During a CST session, the practitioner uses a very light touch, typically no greater than about five grams of pressure, to assess subtle rhythms and areas of restriction within the body. These restrictions can develop over time due to stress, injury, repetitive strain, or illness. Using precise, gentle techniques, the practitioner works to release tension patterns that may be affecting the natural movement of the craniosacral system and the balance of the nervous system.

By helping restore ease within this system, CST supports the body’s natural ability to regulate and heal. Many people seek Craniosacral Therapy for headaches, jaw tension, neck and back discomfort, postural strain, and stress-related symptoms. Others include it as part of a preventative wellness routine to encourage relaxation and maintain nervous system resilience.

CST is non-invasive and deeply calming. Clients remain fully clothed and rest comfortably during treatment. Rather than forcing change, it works with the body, creating space for improved comfort, mobility, and overall wellbeing.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also supports the body’s natural healing processes. Rooted in a holistic understanding of wellbeing, Reiki is based on the concept that a subtle life force energy flows through each of us and plays a role in how we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Reiki is administered through gentle, hands-on or hands-near touch. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above specific areas of the body, allowing energy to flow where it is needed most.

When life force energy is low, we may be more likely to feel fatigued, stressed, or unwell. When it is balanced and flowing freely, we are often better able to experience calm, clarity, and overall wellness.

This approach is natural, non-invasive, and suitable for individuals of all ages. Many people seek Reiki to help manage stress, support emotional balance, improve relaxation, and enhance their sense of wellbeing.

It is commonly used alongside medical care or other therapeutic treatments as a complementary practice, supporting recovery and helping to ease side effects of stress and tension.

Reiki can be received as a stand-alone session or integrated into your massage therapy treatment. Your Registered Massage Therapist and Reiki practitioner can tailor your session to meet your needs, blending techniques to create a deeply restorative experience. Stand-alone Reiki sessions may also be eligible for insurance billing when provided by a qualified practitioner.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, connective tissue massage technique that accelerates the movement of the lymphatic fluid that bathes the tissues, through the lymphatic system and into the bloodstream.

Your Registered Massage Therapist will use gentle, precise, rhythmic strokes. The pumping action of the massage causes small capillaries to open and close, enhancing reabsorption of lymph from the tissues back into the lymphatic vessels.

The lymphatic system is responsible for keeping the connective tissue surrounding cells free from excess water, proteins, bacteria, viruses, inorganic materials, destroyed cells resulting from surgery or trauma, red blood cells, and other dead cells.

This technique helps to reduce edema or tissue fluid retention and decongests lymphatic pathways. The repetitive and soothing techniques also stimulate pain-inhibitory reflexes. Lymphatic Drainage Massage may enhance immune function, increase tissue metabolism, improve nutrition to the tissues, promote eliminative functions, establish fluid balance, reduce pain, and induce deep relaxation.

Your RMT will work with you to individualize this treatment to the specific, targeted area(s) needed. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is not a relaxation massage, but rather a therapeutic treatment with relaxation benefits. However, you can incorporate a traditional massage treatment with Lymphatic Drainage***

PLEASE NOTE: Post-surgical treatments may result in the charge of an additional treatment fee. Please contact the clinic directly if you have had surgery in the last 3-months and are seeking Lymphatic Drainage Massage as part of your healing process.

Instrument Assisted
Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) with Massage Therapy

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, or IASTM, is a therapeutic technique that uses specialized stainless steel instruments to assess and treat soft tissue restrictions. These tools are gently guided over the skin to detect areas of tension, adhesions, or scar tissue that may be limiting movement or contributing to pain.

When soft tissues such as muscles, fascia, and tendons become restricted due to injury, overuse, surgery, or chronic tension, they can lose their normal flexibility and glide. IASTM works to stimulate circulation, break down adhesions, and encourage healthy tissue remodeling. This process can help reduce discomfort, improve range of motion, and support the body’s natural healing response.

IASTM may be beneficial for acute and chronic muscle pain, sports injuries, tennis elbow, post-surgical scarring and a wide variety of other soft tissue injuries.

In practice, IASTM is often integrated into a massage therapy session. Your Registered Massage Therapist will tailor the treatment to your specific condition, combining instrument work with hands-on techniques and individualized home care recommendations to enhance and maintain results.

It is normal to experience temporary redness or mild sensitivity in the treated area following IASTM. This response typically resolves quickly and is a sign of increased circulation to the tissues.

TMJD Massage
Therapy

Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) massage therapy focuses on relieving pain and tension affecting the jaw, face, head, and neck. It is beneficial for clients experiencing jaw clicking or popping, clenching or grinding, headaches, facial pain, ear discomfort, or limited jaw mobility.

Because the jaw is closely connected to the muscles of the neck and upper shoulders, treatment often includes external massage techniques to these areas to reduce tension and improve overall function. When clinically appropriate, sessions may also include intraoral massage.

This involves gentle, gloved techniques applied inside the mouth to release tension in the deeper jaw muscles that are difficult to access externally. Addressing these muscles directly can help reduce pain, improve alignment, and restore more comfortable movement.

Each treatment is tailored to the individual’s needs and contributing factors, such as posture, stress, or dental history. All intraoral work is performed with informed consent, proper hygiene protocols, and clear communication to ensure client comfort and safety.

The goal is to decrease pain, improve mobility, and support lasting relief through focused, therapeutic care.
